Wednesday 11/23

7:14 p.m.  Dispatch advised that a possible drunk driver had entered Clark County on Dayton-Springfield Road. The caller advised dispatch that the driver almost struck the bridge on Dayton-Springfield Rd. and almost ran the red light at Haddix Rd. Dispatch then advised that the vehicle got stuck on parking blocks at WesBanco. The deputy asked if Enon Police could check the driver. The deputy soon arrived and the driver said he was just coming to the bank. The deputy could smell a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the vehicle and the driver said he had nothing to drink. He later said he “had a couple.” The deputy asked the driver if he would submit to field sobriety tests and he said he would. As he was getting out of his vehicle, he was unsteady on his feet. He then said that he would not submit to the tests and just wanted to go home. The driver was handcuffed, then said he was going to get sick. Mad River EMS was called and determined that the driver was OK to be taken to the jail. A search of the vehicle yielded two empty bottles of bourbon, and a cup in the cup holder with bourbon in it. The deputy also found a homemade pipe with residue in it. The caller soon arrived on the scene and said that the driver had turned into the Howard’s lot, drove through the grass and got stuck on a WesBanco parking block. The driver was taken to the Clark County Jail where he refused a breath test. He was charged with OVI-refusal, open container and possession of drug paraphernalia. He became quite upset when told that he was being charged with drug paraphernalia. He was released to his wife.

Thurs 11/24

8:52 a.m.  To Dayton-Springfield Rd. for a report of a domestic disturbance. A woman, who was extremely upset, said her husband assaulted her in front of their two small children. She said she believes her husband was intoxicated. She said that they have been having problems, but have been trying to work through their issues. She said he had texted her at 3:00 a.m. stating that he was out with friends. She said that when she asked why, he became hostile with her. She said he grabbed her by the head and shoved her into a wall, then knocked her to the ground, causing her to fall onto a laundry basket. She said he then tried to grab her throat, but she was able to escape to another room where her children were located. She said he followed her and hit her in the mouth. She recorded part of the confrontation on video, and it appeared that the husband was hitting her and the children could be heard screaming and crying. She said he soon left the residence and she locked the doors. She said he returned and started kicking the door, damaging it. She also had video of him kicking the door. The husband was contacted but refused to tell where he was and refused to return to the scene. Warrants were requested against the husband for domestic violence and assault.

Fri 11/25

11:18 p.m.  To Speedway Dr. Two Speedway Corp employees reported that a vehicle with front end damage was in the lot after hours. Deputies found the vehicle with the engine running and the driver sleeping. He was awakened, and he said he was there to pick up his girlfriend from work. The deputy could smell alcohol coming from the vehicle. He was advised that no one was in the office, but he insisted that she was in there. He said his vehicle was damaged when he hit a ditch near the Speedway gas station. OSP and Enon Police were contacted to see if they had any reports of a hit/skip accident, but there were none. The driver refused sobriety tests. While a deputy was leaving, he found a piece of a bumper that matched the vehicle in question. He walked a few yards south and found a headlight, other car parts and a damaged pole. The driver was ordered out of the vehicle, handcuffed and charged with driving under suspension and OVI. At the jail he refused a breath test.
