On Thursday, December 26th, the Enon Police were called to the Enon Drive-Thru regarding a breaking and entering of the business. When they arrived, police found that the front door of the business had been smashed and video from the location showed two individuals entering the business through the broken glass.
The suspects fled with a large quantity of cigarettes. They were seen on video and identified as possibly two males wearing light green hooded coats. They fled in a van described as a late model Ford conversion possibly silver in color with dark stripes and a ladder rack.
On Tuesday, December 31st the Clark County Sheriff’s office released information on a similar burglary at the Speedway on Urbana Road. The two subjects entered the business through the front door by breaking the glass with a large object as was the case in the Enon robbery. Again a large number of cigarettes were taken. In this case, the individuals used a different vehicle. Deputies were able to recover approximately $3,000 worth of the cigarettes which included 44 cartons of the 47 taken from the gas station.
Deputies arrested James T. Maiolo of Springfield and charged him with breaking and entering and receiving stolen property. The second suspect manage to elude authorizes as he ran from the vehicle which was stopped just miles from the Speedway station.
The Urbana Road Speedway had been the scene of two other robberies in recent months. An investigation is ongoing regarding linking the suspects to thefts of cigarettes around the area.
